Glossary
Terms you will see in dashboards and the RPE Pulse Score.
- RPE
- Post-session perceived exertion (modified CR10-style scale, 0–10).
- Session load
- Session load = RPE × duration in minutes.
- Wellness
- Daily pre-session check: sleep, fatigue, muscle soreness (DOMS), stress, and mood (0–10).
- ACWR
- Acute:Chronic Workload Ratio. RPE Pulse uses an uncoupled EWMA: 7-day acute EWMA over a 28-day chronic EWMA closed 7 days earlier. It gives more weight to recent load without mixing it into the chronic reference. It is a monitoring signal, not an individual diagnosis.
- Monotony
- Foster index: mean daily load / standard deviation. High monotony = little stimulus variation (fatigue/overreaching), not an injury odds ratio by itself.
- Strain
- Weekly load × monotony, interpreted vs the athlete’s history as an overload/fatigue signal.
- Adherence
- Reporting completeness. Not part of the RPE Pulse Score; it measures data confidence.
- RPE Pulse Score
- Composite readiness index 1–10 (higher = better) from wellness, ACWR, and strain. A monitoring tool; not a validated injury predictor.
